We have jumped back into the Subaru family with both feet by purchasing a 2022 Ascent Onyx and a 2018 Forester Premium and on the same day! Back in the mid-2000’s we lived in Japan and I owned a JDM 2000 Forester turbo, which was my first foray into the world of Subaru and I was forever hooked. That original Forester took us through everything from 10 feet of snow in Nagano, through Tokyo, Osaka, and Hiroshima and regular Pacific typhoons. Fun fact – on my daily bike ride into work I rode past one of the Subaru export docks where the new Foresters, Outbacks, and Crosstreks, still in plastic wrap, were loaded onto the ships bound for North America. Our new-to-us 2022 Ascent is my wife’s new family/dog/ski/MTB hauler, and it’s the newest vehicle we’ve had in over 20 years, with just 19K on the clock. Happy to be a part of this forum and learning from others. I am a self-wrencher with a long history of working on vintage Land Cruisers and other Toyota 4×4’s, so I’m eager to enter our new world of respectable gas mileage and smaller footprints.
