EGR valve | Subaru Outback Forums

Hello to everyone,

I recently bought a 2016 gen 5 diesel outback (210,000 km) and after chasing it for a few weeks I came across a CEL
Had it scanned and all signs pointed to a stuck or damaged EGR valve.

Took it to a subaru dealer and they mentioned that it is a very difficult part to remove and replace quoting around $2000 AUD due to it being in a hard to reach location and needing a lot of removal parts around to get to it.

Does anyone know if this is the case? or can it be removed without removing the intake manifold?
Or is it worth trying an EGR cleaner on the intake manifold first to try and fix the problem before fully disassembling it
