Ascent 2023 | Subaru Ascent Forum

Hello to everyone,

It’s not here yet, but soon I’ll be in a 2023 premium 7 seater. I’ve traditionally been a Toyota guy in the past, but with my family expanding and being forced into a more modern vehicle great, looks like Subaru is one of the few companies that offers reasonable prices and excellent safety ratings!

So I know the Ascent is the new kid on the block in the Subaru family, not much history to back it up, but are there any very knowledgeable gearheads on this forum who have strong reason to believe the Ascent will or won’t be a reliable long-term vehicle capable of going beyond 200,000 miles (with regular service of course). I’m kind of excited and a little nervous about joining the Subaru crew. I really appreciate the reliability and longevity, and hope to get an awful lot of miles out of this thing without paying an arm and a leg to do so.

Also, I saw a recent video online with reputable youtube mechanic Scotty Kilmer saying that Subaru has recently done some cost saving measures and ditched the gaskets and started using silicone sealants that probably won’t last so long. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, did they do this swap with the head gaskets?

Thanks to everyone.
