I’ve been the proud owner of a 2005 Outback XT since 2007. I am the second owner. This car was always kept in tip top condition. In 2018 I invested a lot of money to upgrade the engine/drivetrain to a 2006 STI. I upgraded the brakes to 2008 WRX. New HID/LED lights, dual-din radio with touchscreen/Apple CarPlay/back-up Camera. All new black paint – nearly 30 000$ invested. This year I invested another 10 000$ in cosmetics, only to be told – afterwards – that the car needs new rocker panels.
Subaru no longer produces the rocker panels. And the car requires them, as they were flagged in a mandatory provincial inspection (Canada) due to being rusted beyond repair. So unless I can find a way to get the car to pass the mechanical inspection, I am facing having to scrap the car, which would be a shame considering the condition of the rest of the car.
Anybody knows where I could get either new rocker panels, or good used ones but in very good condition? Or does anyone manufacture them on-demand?
