the problem is… only one of the four complaints listed in detail has the denso unit. A 2022 release. The 2019 and 2021 WRXs have the Harman 3.1 system, as does the 2019 Forester.
“The class vehicles have an updated Starlink system from previous model years that contained the Harman Gen 3 head units that were the subject of the Udeen litigation. On information and belief, the updated Starlink system for the class vehicles was manufactured by the supplier Japanese Denso . The newer Denso head units in Class vehicles are claimed to have ‘cured’ the Starlink system problems with the earlier Harman Gen 3 head units.”
this would be true for one of your 4 illustrated examples. There is a footnote in there that the plaintiffs reserve the right to change the years and models of the affected vehicles… I guess at some point they will realize that three of their four named defendants do not have a denso unit.
The other complaints listed are mostly from NHTSA, one from reddit where the guy is having problems with his 2019 subaru limited V6, some from edmunds. The superdupermega software startup got a mention, as did another short link (and even a named user had an example in the doc).
It would be nice to have some sort of extended warranty for the 2019 Harman units where people are having screen issues.
I think maybe if there is a solution, people with a 2019 and screen problems should be able to get something in early 2026. I understand the case will take at least a year and a half, if not two, and more after a period to set up the settlement process to receive compensation for past repairs – 6 to 8 months or more.
