Installing DIY Factory Hitch Accessories

So I finally got around to installing the crank assembly today… Very easy, the instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow. It took me about 2.5 hours, but that was with taking my time, taking vacations, driving to Boston and Kenny Way Shepard on my garage stereo, and keeping my 3 year old from going off with the bolts of my

The only notes I had were that the 6 clips referenced in step 2.5 are actually under the vehicle, not on the side as the diagram suggested. Also, the instructions don’t say anything about this, but if you have the factory splash guards, they need to be removed before removing the bumper cover (a clip on the bottom and 2 bolts in the wheel well). Other than that, just pay attention to the wiring harness route and you’ll be golden.

On the other hand, I am very impressed with the quality, fit (which is literally PERFECT) and completeness of the Subaru hitch assembly. There are starting to be some other options available that may be a little cheaper, but I think the Subaru hitch is well worth the few extra dollars. So far, overall very happy. I just hope that towing something is as enjoyable and satisfying as buying and installing the hitch.
