Generation 3 – Error Questions

I’m helping a friend figure out 205,000 miles on his 2005. I think it’s the 2.0l auto. it has a misfire mostly it sets the code for p0304 and i’m relying on plugs and wires for starters but just in case there might be another problem i might have to look at you might be able to guide me in that direction.

also i did an ohm on the wires #1 12 ohm #2 8 ohm #3 9 ohm #$ variable ohm started with 0 and then managed the variable so i need wire q anyway

anyway, it is 4 cylinders with natural asperation. I know it needs wires. The pugs are autolite #5 and they were split to .050, I’m sure I read that they should be .040 ex. I think the firing order is looking at the engine front right #1 front left #2 rear right #4 and rear left #3 if I’m wrong then just go by those numbers and this is what I have for compression #1 180 psi # 2 185 psi #3 190 psi and #4 190 psi so I’m ruling that out.

I have no codes other than p0304 for #4 faults. when i drive it i have the check engine light flashing and i had the scanner set to flash a code but on a 3 mile test loop i had multiple check engine lights but it still didn’t set a code nor flash the freeze frame or the ignition direct data.

there is 20″ of vacuum on the brake booster hose, haven’t done a fuel pressure test yet but no codes telling me to look that way. nothing for the poor. plugs burn white so they are looking good.the trims look good.missing my cat and it had the p0420 code but i have been working fine with the missing cat just the last few weeks it has started to malfunction.

I’m going to have him get the plugs and wires for starters, but if there’s a failed coil, won’t that put a code? in most cars, but maybe not in this one.

so based on this information what else can i ask for. connect the wires and extend a coil if this machine will not set a code for the coil?
Thank you
