Front Door – FOCAL ICU 690 Speakers – super fast 6×9 woofer replacement, discrete tweeter mounted in enclosure (supplied) with bullets on door sill in small front quarter window area. This is the third car I have installed the Focal Integration series speakers in they are a joy. At 93db for the first watt they take the factory amp further and you get a 2-6db jump over the factory units. Bass is tight and accurate and the soundstage (with door sill tweeters) is a delight.
Rear Door – FOCAL ICU 165 Speakers – these are a more traditional two-way coaxial design, as the busy rear door panel design left no good opportunity for mounting a discrete tweeter. In a conservative moment, we flipped the Focal 130 and went with the 165. Quick install — snaps into factory place with a Metra adapter ring (82-8148).
For now, I’m not going to make a subwoofer. My last two cars had subwoofers with Focal Integration speakers, but I’m happy with how the 6×9 woofers sound with the factory amp (bass at -2).
When the internet cried for no H/K audio options in the desert, I said to myself “this would be a great system to add Focals to”.
