Recently, I installed a 1.5in AFC lift on my 2010 OB (link: 2010-2014 Subaru Outback 1.5) and while I was doing that I also installed new LCAs, tie rods, and sway bar links. After which I went and realigned the car. (I also got new VC axles in the front)
After installing all the parts, the car immediately started making a weird loud thump when going over irregular terrain and bumps. The sound is also heard when going over the middle split of the road with one wheel at a slow speed (it seems most obvious around 20-25 mph). When I back out of my driveway and the front leaves the curb of the driveway you can also hear the sound.
At first, the sound was not very loud and I figured that it might have to do with the fact that the car was lifted, but the sound has definitely been getting louder. That being said I did some research and found that maybe because I bought some cheaper LCAs that lower ball joint might be crappy and swapped it out for an OEM one. That didn’t help. Next, I swapped the sway bar bushings as those are another common issue. That didn’t help either.
I am starting to think that it might be the top of the strut that is making the sound but that’s just a guess.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Piotr
