Long time reader have found some really helpful stuff on the forums here but this one has me stumped. I have a 2012 Outback with 143k miles and just started having a high pitch whine/chirp coming from the undercarriage. I haven’t been able to locate exactly where this is coming from. When I first heard it I replaced my serpentine belt before really finding the location. The whine goes away when the car is at higher RPMs but there is still an abnormal sound. Servicing just done oil change, serpentine belt, new brakes and rotors, then timing belt at about 115k my concern is this is a problem in the CVT, well outside my mechanical ability. Couple things to note I live in Las Vegas and the sound started before the flooding last week but seemed to get worse after I had to drive through a small puddle but still large enough to throw water but not enough to submerge anything. I can’t attach a link to the sound because it’s my first time posting but will update with one. Any ideas are helpful. thank you
