Show me your Rack(s)! | Subaru Ascent Forum

Ok, I’m shopping for roof racks. I have seen the Front Runner and Yamaha details. However, having just heard about Prinsu, I really like the idea of removing my rails and putting the rack straight into the roof. There are some real weight savings by removing the rails plus it lowers the rack height which increases my storage options while I can park in my garage without removing the entire load first.

I have also seen a similar style of rack like Prinsu, like UpTop Overland and NashFabCo, etc.

Are there any others I should be looking at?

So far only Prinsu (that I’ve found) makes a roof rack for the Ascent and the last info I have from early 2022 is that it won’t allow the sunroof to open (I contacted them asking if there any design changes occurred in the last year to allow the opening of the sunroof).

UpTop Overland has some for Subaru, they don’t mention the Ascent on their website.

So anyway, please show me your shelf(s)!

I’m really curious to find out what other brands are out there.

Bonus: Anyone have ideas for a ladder that’s compact (perhaps expandable?) but also easy to store on the side of a shelf (so it doesn’t take up overhead storage space)? I’m not interested in the rear hatch ladder, I’m really looking for something that can be swapped on either side of the rack (whichever side we use for the tent we intend to add).
