Reusing the empty spare wheel well – funny or genius?

I had a crazy idea, as one does, after realizing to my dismay that my 10 gallon, 120 lb. Roadshower would FAR exceed the weight capacity of the roof when paired with my RTT and Alu Cab Shower Cube…

Since my full size spare is mounted in the rear of the vehicle…

what if…

…I mounted a shower in the well of the empty spare wheel!

My farmer-non-engineer logic tells me that if I reuse the bolt holes used to mount the spare wheel lift pulley (I’d remove the pulley) + the spare wheel anti-crash bracket – I should be fine… or not?! I would fabricate a bottom mounted bracket to hang the shower.

I ordered the WaterPort 4gal, which dimensionally fits perfectly in this space and does not hang below the heat shield.

My only hesitations would be:
• The full dynamic load of the shower can shake welds into place. (~30 lbs static weight)
• Is the heat shield large enough to mount a plastic container in this space? It would have to be high ambient temperatures to melt the shower.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these mounting points and where I can safely mount something?
