Generation 5 – Driver’s side power window switch.

The 2015-2019 models are all Gen 5; you changed this to your title.

Despite the electronics involved, the command to raise or lower the window still relies on an electromechanical switch that moves between two positions. This is almost always the least reliable part of most electronic assemblies, while the electronics are quite robust. And a very common failure mode is just a raw build-up in the contacts that causes them to be messy.

So before replacing anything I would try spraying an electrical contact cleaner on the panel while at the same time aggressively moving the switch between the two extremes to try and remove and wash off anything present on the contacts. It’s the cheapest approach, it often works, and if you still have to replace anything, you haven’t lost much.
