Gen 6 – If you were going to give up on Outback

I have a 2021 OB Touring XT and generally like it. But it has a couple limitations for my use.

1) I go off road a lot. Not four wheeling, but rough dirt roads. I worry that over time the Outback will not hold up.

2) I tow a small “squaredrop” camp trailer (1400 pounds or so) quite a bit, including off road. I worry that this will also run down the OB (but I do stay ahead of maintenance, e.g., getting tranny serviced next week at 21k miles; I monitor transmission temps etc.).

I often think I’d prefer something more capable for towing and moderate off road, while maintaining on road manners and not getting too much of a hit on mpg.

So, if you were going to “upgrade’ an OB Touring XT with this use case in mind, what would you look at and why? 4Runner? Telluride? Bronco?

I’m batting around ideas as the spring camping season approaches…
