HELP, dealer is telling me that everytime the tires are rotated the car must be hooked up to their computer to program the TPMS for $79.

Thanks for all the replies. I also initially thought that it might take driving on it longer to register but I drove it for about an hour straight and no joy. The trip out to the dealer today is over 40 min of driving at highway speeds that should have worked if nothing else did.

I’ve printed out page 540 from the owner’s manual ( thanks pederv) that shows the TPMS sensors should self register and will be taking that to the dealer with me. That should be an interesting discussion, I’m a retired Navy Senior Chief Electronics Technician whose two careers have been spent commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and teaching technical systems(ranging from RADAR to nuclear power plants,) for almost 40 years and not the average housewife who doesn’t understand electronics.

I’ll say it again these forums are great for leveling the playing ground between an owner and a dealer. I’ll come back and post what the dealer and subaru has to say. (nothing worse than someone you tried to help not coming back to post what worked),
