DIY: 2021 XT block heater install

So I decided it would be fun to make a DIY for this today, there may be some points where others do things different but this is how I do it, also I am not adding torque specs as, if you are confident enough to do this job then I imagine you have the competence to know when a bolt is tight or not.
I also did NOT drain the coolant, but for the people wishing to tackle this at home I would recommend draining the coolant, then you may take it upon yourself to look up the correct way to fill and bleed the cooling system.

Also, I had the advantage of using a hoist and a hydraulic stand to support the turbo, others may not have that so it may take longer.

Anyway..

Step 1. Install block heater
Step 2. Enjoy

🤣 just kidding!

Start by raising the front of the car to access underneath, remove the under tray, you should have removed all of these, the trim clip tool will help a lot here but a small flat screw driver will suffice.

Next remove the centre metal plate covering the turbo

504463

Next you want to pull back the right front splash guard and hold it back with a bungee cord.

504464

This allows access to remove the air intake hose.

504465

You can also remove this little plastic piece, its not critical, I just find it gets in the way a little

504482

Next remove the metal V shape shield covering the exhaust

504466

Once the shield is removed, go ahead and remove the 2 nuts on the front pipe and the bolt on the bracket at the end of the transmission then hold the exhaust over with another bungee cord

504467

Now we can move the oil return hose (be careful, if you let it hang down you will make an oilly mess) then to stop it making a mess push it onto the stud at the bottom of the Catalyst

Next we disconnect the coolant hoses, move the clamps up the hoses and clamp the hoses BEFORE removing the hoses, (go ahead and judge me for using vise grips 🤣), first I disconnect the lower hose,

504479

Then SLOWLY disconnect the upper hose, the reason I say slowly is that as the upper hose starts to let air in, more coolant comes out of the bottom hose.
