Unresponsive touchscreen -> aftermarket replacement?

Our 2018 Outback with the 8″ touchscreen has started to become unresponsive after the car has been on for a few minutes. Holding down the power/volume button to force a power cycle brings it back to responsiveness, but it only lasts for a few minutes.

The car has about 74,000 miles, bought in November 2017. I will contact the dealer tomorrow to see what they say, but I suspect it will be mostly sympathy and an offer to replace it at my cost.

I will start my search for an aftermarket alternative after that contact I suspect. Anyone with experience replacing the aftermarket head unit? I will start a search on this forum for others experiences as well. I’ve done head unit replacements on older cars, but nothing as integrated as this.
