Gen 5 – Ghost Touch infotainment system

Hi, I’m new here. Wife and I own a 2018 Limited 2.5i with the HK infotainment system. I will go straight to the point.

As soon as the vehicle is turned on, the infotainment system starts freaking out and starts selecting/tapping things on the screen by itself. Which then creates the problem of it shuffling through different apps and beeping (which I’ve disabled) and making it impossible for us to select/tap on anything because it’s stuck doing that. Sometimes when the vehicle is on it will run fine for minutes or hours, I have noticed it is more common on the day when it is hot outside. But at the end of the day, once you start using it as intended, it will accidentally start to worry.

Back story, we bought the vehicle used and everything looked good at first glance. I noticed that they had just cleaned the whole car and the inside was shiny from the cleaner they used. BUT.. there were like greasy bubbles behind the infotainment screen towards the top (which have spread more all over the screen since purchased).. which led me to believe that when they cleaned the screen they used too much cleaner and went into the CD player slot and ran behind the screen.. that seems to be my only explanation.

My theory is that the oil bubbles behind the screen are making contact that makes the screen think it has touch input. And the sun heating the oil bubbles makes it more active.

My questions are:
1.)Has anyone experienced these symptoms regardless of oil bubbles behind the screen? Because I know that these systems have had many defects. 2.) is there any way I can remove the touch screen part to wipe it off or any other ideas how to get the oil bubbles off the back of the screen? Maybe creating a vacuum from the ceiling player by sucking them. Idk
3.) if it looks like it needs replacing, is there anyone selling a 2018 infotainment system that supports HK sound.
4.) does anyone know of an aftermarket infotainment system worth replacing that doesn’t mess with the backup camera and other controls. Basically plug and play while retaining all OEM features.

Thanks for reading and any help is greatly appreciated.
