I have had a phone in the same place using a magnet mount, however when I upgraded to the iphone 11pro in July, I couldn’t get any of the metal plates to stick to the back of the iphone 11 pro, they all come off after getting warm after a bit.
Only just the last week or so, I tried one last metal plate – actually ordered from the pro clip site.

For whatever reason – after 3 different brand attempts and failures of the metal discs/plates for the phones, these from the pro clip site (Scosche) are sticking to the back of my phone 11 – as long as I don’t use the clear plastic sheet they recommend putting on the phone first (that didn’t stick either after 10 minutes of use. But the black plates itself did.
My magnet mount is the small mob armor magnet mount.
here is the pic (below) from my iphone 7 when I got the 2020OB. The iphone 11 pro is in its place and the top of phone sits just below the hood line, so doesn’t block any view, just like the 7 in the picture.
I also ordered this Pro Clip mount for the left of screen vent (link above), with these metal plates, because I didn’t expect the plates to stick to the phone after so many failures. So I have that vent clip as a backup, but I am not going to use it yet as it blocks more of the vent than I would like.
