I think you are on the right track in choosing to protect your interior (from UV rays) and reduce discomfort when entering the vehicle.
I use a generic windshield tint that I got from Walmart (not stiff enough). It doesn’t fit well, but it works well to bounce/block the vast majority of harmful UV rays. If you do not have window shades that block UV rays (radiation waves), then side shades are necessary.
Ideally, we should be using that shade kit to block as much sunlight as possible, but I think that’s naively optimistic. I believe the most practical way is to get the fitted windshield shade (OEM or WT) and tint your car.
