I saw a mounting option using the fuse box door near the driver’s left knee. With a brand new car, I’m a little shy about drilling holes through anything expensive or difficult to replace. I bought a new fuse box door from Subaru (door pn 66135AJ020VH and tag 82245XC00A) and fitted the P3 wide bracket to it. The fuse box door latch tabs are barely strong enough to support the extra weight of the controller and holder, so I added magnets to the door and steel brackets to the opening.
The dash is slightly curved, so to get the P3 parallel to the direction of travel, I tilted it slightly when mounting it.
The mount is very solid and clean. I can get some thumb screws to replace the philips side heads so I don’t need a tool to tighten or align the controller to the bracket. To remove the controller, open the door, tilt the controller forward, and unplug the cable.
Since the controller doesn’t have on/off, I guess I have to unplug the unit when not pulling anything. It’s best to keep it out of sight when not needed anyway.
Now all I need is a trailer with brakes!

Edit: This is on a Touring option with factory pull, so I found the connector open in the dash by the driver’s left foot per the posts and photos above (thanks!!), and the dealer left the wire harness in the glove box. Tekonsha wires soldered in the same color as the Subaru harness wires in the same color. The hardest part was clicking the open connector… not too lazy there.
