Anyway, a week ago I finally managed to track down that thread that had the link to the calibration PDF and downloaded it. A week later (massive procrastinator), I went out and followed the steps on paper.
Wow! What an immediate difference! The throttle reacts much nicer, the acceleration feels more linear and more to the point, the squeal was gone and completely. I really wish this was the last thing the dealer did to all customers. I wish I had done this the day I got it home, or really, before I left the dealer’s lot.
So the REAL reason for this post…PLEASE stick that glorious handy PDF somewhere on the Gen 6 forum and maybe even if there’s any “New Outback, what should I do first?” thread. I realize that since we all pedal differently, this calibration may not have as pronounced an effect as it did for me, but it’s something that all OB owners should do early on.
I don’t remember exactly where that post was, but I’ll throw it back here for convenience.
