I was under my Ascent yesterday doing an oil change and inspecting everything when I noticed something different from one side to the other:
The pics are taken from inboard of each front wheel looking up. At the top you can see the strut mount. On the left it appears to be painted, sans corrosion. On the right it appears to have developed a uniform layer of rust.
My question is mainly why. Did Subaru change something with this OEM part? To add a little background info, my 2019 had strut bearings, and possibly a strut assembly, replaced years ago at a dealer due to some noise when turning. The noise hasn’t returned…at least not that noise.
If any of ya’ll wouldn’t mind crawling underneath to see if your strut mounts are clean or rusty underneath I’d appreciate it!
