Torque bind on tight turns, due to either a problematic viscous coupler in the center differential of a MT, or, a binding transfer clutch in the AT, is independent of direction, i.e., forward or reverse direction, or left or right turn.
If this is a 2007 2.5 with the 4EAT automatic transmission, then the TCM’s AWD-disabling capability can be used to confirm or eliminate torque binding as the cause.
There’s a fuse position in the engine compartment fuse box for AWD. This position is normal empty. Insert any fuse in that position. When the engine is started, the AWD warning light in the instrument panel will remain lit. This confirms that the hydraulic control to the AWD transfer clutch is supposed to be turned off, leaving the clutch in its default, open, position. The car should be running as a front wheel drive only. If the vibration/noise remains, then it’s not torque bind.
