I had the SRS light come on intermittently on my out of warranty 2019 Ascent. I took it to my dealership for service to have it checked out. They’ve been going down the rabbit hole trying to figure out the problem. While the mechanic had the dash apart inspecting things, the side airbags deployed, luckily not injuring the mechanic. It’s been in the shop for almost 4wks now. I guess they sent a team of engineers to take a look at what in the world happened but my goodness, all I see are dollar signs! I have no idea what I will be responsible for, but this seems like a major safety fail. The service rep even stated how thankful they were this did not happen while we were driving it and had never heard of such a thing. He seemed to be just as shocked and perplexed as me. Has anyone had anything like this happen or have any insight as to how this might be handled by SOA?
