I would invest in an All in One car seat if I have another child.
Second, this recommendation.
We had the Chicco Keyfit 30 system which was great BUT I didn’t realize you had to stop using it once they hit 30 lbs or 30 inches. My oldest son hit this at about six months, at which time we had to buy a bigger place. others:
If I had to, I’d get an all-in-one. We spent ~$700 on the turnkey rig system (Tarrier, 3 bases and cart). Then spent another $400 on baby seats in six months. For that price, we could have had fantastic all-in-one seats and a fantastic stroller.
In terms of brands, don’t go cheap. I made that mistake too and my back paid the price. If you’re anything like us, you’ll be in and out of them often. There’s nothing worse than wrestling a squirmy little kid and then struggling to get the belts back.
In terms of brands, this has been our experience:
grain: The best IMO. Easy to install and easy to secure straps.
Graco: Second best. Easy to install and thus to secure the straps.
Safety first: Stay away. This was on sale at Costco. They usually carry quality products and it meets all our safety requirements. I thought I found a winner. WRONG. Difficult to install and almost impossible to tighten the straps. Spent $80 on the chair but much more on chiropractic bills.
