Well now that my wedding story is out of the way, the real reason for this post. I’m at 5 months of ownership and only 3k miles, and the glue on the rear wheel trim is already failing.
Just pathetic for a $50k car. This is my 4th Subaru, and my 2011 Outback has 180k miles on it and I’ve been generally happy with it over the past 12 years of ownership, but I’m really wondering how well it will hold up this Ascension for a long time. It looks like a lot of cut corners and cheap materials. A small but noticeable thing for me was the plastic interior panels in the cargo area/third row. Weak, frail and seems to scratch and scratch just by looking at it. Also finding the MPG to be really bad, averaging just 18 MPG over the first 3k miles, barely an improvement over the Tribeca it replaced. I bought this car to be the family/adventure platform for raising my two boys, really hoping it wouldn’t let me down. At this point it’s hard not to feel like I’ve made a huge mistake, despite loving the fit/features/ride of the vehicle.
