I’ve looked around the forum and only found a couple results for a recent P0072 code I’ve received. It has now happened twice.
Just sitting in the parking lot (both times) when all of a sudden the Christmas tree of lights appears: EyeSight malfunction, check engine, etc.
When this happened the first time, my OBD reader said it was the “Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low”. I went ahead and cleared it and everything was normal. The same code has returned after about 2 weeks. Keep in mind, I’m in Nevada where it’s super hot right now. I suspect this is part of the issue which is messing with the sensor.
Looking for explanations, I have not been able to determine whether clearing it myself each time is OK or if I need to get the warranty involved. Also, since I know the code, do I still need to play “dumb” at the dealer (if I go there)? Last thing I need is a service adviser asking why are you meddling with the OBD port — here’s a $150 diagnostic fee (while I already know what it is).
Anyway, what are you thoughts? Reset and move on? Or, is there a bigger, hidden issue here? I’m planning a cross-country road trip in 3 weeks and don’t want this to be a recurring issue.
