The vehicle microphone is used with the onboard voice prompts, and your phone if you are connected via bluetooth. Apple Carplay or Android Auto will use the microphone on the phone itself, so it’s worth checking any settings there if that’s how you’re using a phone (not sure you’re doing this though).
you can verify the microphone working/not working
Press and HOLD the Home button, and while holding, press the tune knob two times and let go. This should get you into the factory settings mode. Car can be in ACC or ON.
the last tab on the right there… microphone.
if you snap your fingers near the microphone at the map lights, the green bars should register…. just speaking may not make the bars move enough.
you can also press the little microphone icon there, it turns red, you can then just say whatever, it’s recording. Press the microphone a second time to stop recording, it turns from red back to white. Pressing the play icon there will play back the recording. make sure the volume is up when you are playing back the recording. This will verify the function of the microphone.
To exit, you have to press the HOME icon on the touchscreen itself, not the one to the left under the volume knob you use to get into this mode.
other than the settings on the radio – microphone volume (in settings screen) – there aren’t any separate fuses for the microphone – it’s wired back into the radio and gets power from there – it just happens to go through the DCM on 2016-2019 cars.
