Open tailgate kills battery? | Subaru Ascent Forum

I compete in dog trials and need to leave the rear gate open all day for my dogs. I turn off the trunk light and interior lights, yet my car is dead at the end of the day. I have to leave it open. I do not leave any passenger doors open, just maybe windows depending on temperature.
What is causing this and how can I prevent this from happening?
I have a 2022 Ascent Touring. I love the car but this is a serious problem for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It’s my understanding that from 2021> they revised the software to prevent that. However, if you open the other doors, that resets the “time out” for switching off the power, and draws down the battery. Hopefully someone will post with more definitive info. I think I’ve read that if you keep the keyfob far enough away, or deactivate it, it will prevent the car from “waking up” again and draining the battery.
