Oil level on dipstick redux

I’ve posted about this before and I’m taking my ’21 Onyx XT to the dealership next week.

To recap: A few days after I bought the car, I did some routine checks and noticed that my oil level was at least an overflowing cesspool. Since then, I’ve had the oil changed twice at two different shops and each time the dipstick showed the same thing – (for me) it was overfilled. And sellers say this is normal!

I removed a quarter to make it match the top level on the pipe as shown in the manual. Now, a few weeks ago the low level warning light came on, so when I got home, I parked the car on a flat surface and gave it a few hours to settle.

When I pulled the dipstick it showed the oil level where it should be for a full crankcase!

I added half a pint and the light went off but yesterday it came back on so I need to add more oil. BUT! What’s up with a dipstick that shows a liter full and dealers saying this is normal! The dealer says it’s because the drop tube is curved, but, seriously? How could Subaru get something so wrong?

And to top it off I went to check my tire pressure which I hadn’t checked since the dealer checked my car for other things but filled washer fluid, checked tire pressure and washed the car but I can’t move the valves all four tires!

Man, I don’t know Subaru dealers.

And, I had called the 800 number about my Starlink and was going to mention the oil thing, but when I called about the oil a few days ago, I didn’t get a call back…
