so…we had an 85 subaru that we loved but it was loaned out in 97 and I have been looking for a replacement ever since…finally got a 99 outback limited 30 and I love it.. .needs a ton of work, but once I get it together, I think it will be a great addition.
The questions I have is there a date stamp on the ej25?
i see ej25 on the block but no d or 1,2,3… i know it’s a dohc and i live in the gorge surrounded by mountains i have to hope it will have enough power to climb the hills etc.
i need to get the heads done for sure its leaking but only coolant in the cylinders i might try the blue devil for a temp fix as i have three other vehicles that need immediate repair and if they will get me through the smog process then can take my time and pull the engine and do the mls gaskets and new belt water pump etc…
any advice on any of this for a shade tree mechanic who has never worked on a subaru or at least in years I don’t think I have ever done anything but change the fluids in the ol 85…anyway tell me am I mad or not …
