This is a bit weird. I can only use AppleCar play (using Siri or manual lookup from the screen) to access phone contacts. If I push the microphone button on the steering wheel, regardless of whether I’ve got Apple CarPlay connected or not, it only brings up the native car phone app. But when I want to search for a phone number, it says no contacts downloaded, or something similar, and so I can’t access my contacts. Every other car I’ve owned, when the steering wheel microphone button is used when Apple CarPlay is running, it accesses the phones contact list. Hope that makes sense.
