Had a flat, tires are pretty well worn, so I’m installing 4 new tires on my 2020 Touring XT. I’m getting the Michelin Cross Climate 2s from Costco, but I’m a little torn from what I’m seeing in the reviews. Generally I’m in the Los Angeles area and do a lot of driving (almost 90k on my 2020 Outback) – mostly highway but I like to go to the mountains every year for the winter – Big Bear and Mammoth and the Sierras so these sound great as their handling in snow and wet is excellent. Reviews also say these are NOT good off-road tires. Now, in my travels I hit the occasional dirt/gravel road, nothing crazy but some rough roads here and there. Should I avoid dirt/gravel with these tires? Am I overthinking it? Thanks for any insight.
When someone finds a ‘perfect’ tire that works 100% for highway, snow/mountain, off-road, gravel, etc., they will be a billionaire taken from Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, etc.
Since I have also been on the hunt for tires for the past several months, as my Continentals are original 2012 treads {now at 18.5k miles]which after this research and based on the silly 80/20 rule, that for me would life 80% highway / paved vs. 20% gravel etc., I’m really going with the CC2 from Costco.
