I don’t particularly care for nav, since an array of nav apps are available to put on the big screen with your phone. Google maps and Waze display speed limits. Apple maps used to be better, but now it infuriatingly does not display the speed limit much at all.
When I saw the upgrades to the 2024 Onyx – moonroof, heated steering wheel and heated rear seats, HK audio and full size spare, for me it made a lot of sense to buy one in the XT form, which I did 2 says ago. I do feel it is slightly louder to drive, and I need to compare tires on the 23 vs 24. Wife has the 23. Regardless, we can have a quiet conversation in either one while on the highway.
Lack of hood struts suck, but that may be the result of a lightweight material for the hood? Aftermarket hood struts for me resulted in too much flexing of the metal, and a little damage too, so I removed them and put it back to stock after a short time.
I too hated the lane assist feature and turned it off immediately on the 2023, it felt like the car was possessed and fighting me. However, on the road trip yesterday from FL to LA, I decided to live on the edge and switch it on…and not interfere with its operation. It worked extraordinarily well, and I think I will use it regularly. I did note that it tried to take a couple of offramps on I20 in Mississippi, and I did not fancy that. They were quite the surprise when it veered suddenly.
I will say the bass in the HK is weak at best, I’m quite surprised how sub par it is.
I don’t know what the info button does. I pressed it and nothing changed anywhere. I’m not ready to mess with the channel change buttons, as on my wife’s Onyx, changing the channel on XM with the steering wheel buttons actually changes the source.
