It might be a bit of a stretch since I could not find anything about anyone else doing this, but has anyone tried to install one of the Japanese EX trim digital clusters into an Outback that comes with analog gauges?
I’d be interested in one, however the fully digital dash is only given to cars equipped with Eyesight X which is basically a hardware/software upgrade for Japanese Highways using HD map data (slows for toll gates, has front radars for full cruise control stop go without intervention, lane change support, no hold wheel alerts under 50kmph and displays road curves). It is standard on the Outback and is an upgrade on the WRX(S4)/Levorg. The eyesight cameras do not visibility change.
I know the map software running on the infotainment screen is different so that’ll probably not work, but I’m not sure if the wiring harness is also different, if it throws errors when different responses are given from the eyesight computer, or if it will even talk to the immobilizer, but if anyone here knows about these, please let me know.
