I received a surprise call from the service advisor that CoCo was ready to come home, so I took my injured dog in early to the Vet so the tubes could be removed while I was fetching CoCo.
Tech findings per Invoice Report:
The oil pan was confirmed leaking and would need a new gasket and sealant.
Work performed:
Removed skid plates, removed exhaust manifold, removed oil pan, and cleaned off old silicone and gasket material.
Reapplied a new gasket, new silicone reinstalled on the oil pan, reinstalled exhaust manifold and skid plates.
A test drive was conducted to check for leaks, and none were found.
The oil used was Mobil-One 0W-20 full synthetic. All filters were replaced.
The firmware update was not done due to the time it would take, so I’ll return and have it done later.
Upon arrival service advisor stated that one tiny washer was on backorder for six weeks… (Lots of crickets there…)
Fortunately, an exact washer was found in the dealership (some Subie Tech at the dealer have a parts bin overflowing with them…).
Overall the oil change went well.
While waiting at the dealer, I noted they have many of the new Subarus on the lot, and I mentioned the Starlink issue too. The service advisor confirmed they have to hold any sales until they get the parts to replace the screwed-up units.
