I have the same car as you, but we pull a 1700lb Rove Lite trailer that when loaded gets up around 2000lbs.
For the OBD2 Sensor I really like the OBDLink MX+. The software for it is crap and I use it only to check and handle firmware updates on it. The software doesn’t read the CVT sensor, but instead I use the ActiveOBD app as it does pick up all the sensors.
There are some great threads on here about CVT temps, but in the FL summer the hottest I’ve gotten is 207, however the majority of our tows I stay around 190-200 on trips more than 45m.
All of that being said, let me know what you settle on and how it goes. I’m wanting to add a cooler inline to mine as well down the road.
