So if someone recommends a particular aftermarket axle, actively look for examples of it failing so you at least know what can go wrong with the aftermarket. For example, SurTrak/Trakmotive makes an axle that they claim is improved over the Subaru model, but they fail quickly. They also sell their axles through NAPA and other auto parts stores under private label, so don’t believe the marketing claims.

So I just changed my steering rack and front control arms to 98 (2″ raised + springs) out due to not being able to get an alignment. I went to drive it afterwards and it looked like the CVs were poorly attached I replaced the boot in one a hundred miles ago and all looked good inside no harm…

Many aftermarket axles are poorly machined made in China. SurTrak/Trakmotive is Ningbo Wonh of China. Many brands don’t sound Chinese because they have American branding.
GSP axles are Wenzhou Guansheng Auto Parts Manufacture Co. Ltd. of China and someone is testing them, someone else bought them and one didn’t fit.

If you’re only replacing one axle, it’s best not to have a mismatch of two different brands of axles, so your choices are either a Subaru axle, or two other aftermarket axles.
