For the last 2 months in 85F+ ambient weather my oil temp light comes on solid when driving >65MPH. I stop… then drive 60mph… no light. Sometimes the oil level sensor comes on, but oil levels at the stick are fine. I do burn oil and the oil level light has been very good for years at coming on when the oil drops to the bottom of the dipstick range.
The Subaru dealer has no logged faults.
I hosed dead bugs off the radiator and that seemed to help.
From these forums it could mean:
1. The dealer did not “really” check the coolant level and it is low coolant triggering the problem
2. Bad sensor which is part of the radiator valve mechanism … which requires new coolant…. expensive
These would be reasonable, if it were not for the faulty oil level signal…
