Fumoto oil drain valve-fiber washer or crush washer?

I changed the oil for the first time in the ‘21 Outback today. The factory drain plug was in incredibly tight. Couldn’t get it with my 3/8” drive 12 point 14mm socket for fear of rounding it. I had to get my 1/2 breaker bar and 14mm socket and give it a good thump to break it loose.
I installed the Fumoto using the Subaru crush washer. As I expected, I couldn’t feel the “crush” using the crowsfoot wrench, but it tightened up to a point I felt good about from experience doing around 20 or so oil changes on my ‘13 and ‘19 Outbacks, with the drain lever fortunately in the right orientation.

So I’ll check it often initially to see if there’s any weeping from the Fumoto/pan junction. I feel pretty optimistic about the crush washer working at present. And if there is a problem, it’ll be a cinch to drain the oil into a clean pan, change to the Fumoto supplied washer, and reinstall.

Just FYI for anybody on the fence about which version to get for their ‘20 or ‘21 Outbacks, the short nipple version, the S108, is well recessed up in the cutout in the plastic undershield, even with the plastic extension for the drain tubing snapped onto the nipple. I left it on right now just to see how it fares. With a little plasticy cap on the barbed section of the extension. Not even close to protruding from the opening in the undershield.
