Front differential flood plug leaks

I recently changed the differential fluid and must have overridden the front differential overflow plug. I used 36 ft-lb according to another forum thread. Not sure what the exact torque spec is for the 14mm overflow plug.

Anyway, now I have a slow drip. Any advice on how I should handle it? Any chance the bolt came off and not the case, and if replacing the bolt and gasket could fix the problem? I don’t want to ask leading questions; open to ideas. What should I try next? It is expensive to replace the box.

EDIT: Not sure if I removed the threads, I think I have. I reused the gasket. Not sure if this is a problem. I fingered it until I couldn’t anymore. I set my torque wrench to 36 lb-ft, and it seemed to go on for at least a turn and a half. Then I used a small wrench and could turn it at least two full turns. I didn’t feel much resistance on the small switch. I got worried and stopped. I hoped it wouldn’t leak, but there was a slow drip after two weeks. I think I removed the thread. I did see some bare rubber on the drain pan though.
