2013 Outback 3.6 – The lower slide pin on My right front caliper seized up. I found it when doing a brake job. I broke it free and cleaned it up and lubricated it so I could get it back on the road. The caliper is a dual piston.

the problem is I got replacement ones at the scrap yard and there are some things confusing me:

The lower slide pin is machined down for about 40% of the pin on the original caliper. When I removed the pin there was my rubber sleeve or anything over that part of the pin.

I got 2 new calipers from the scrap yard form a 2005 Legacy GT. I thought I would replace both sides since I could get a pair in much better condition. The scrap yard says they are the correct caliper for my car. They certainly look the same as what I have.

Here is the difference.

One caliper had a shouldered pin in both the upper and lower locations. Those shouldered pins had a rubber sleeve over them. One of the sleeves is to detoriated to reinstall into the caliper. The other seems fine. The other caliper had 2 solid pins in both the upper and lower positions.

it seems to me that whomever had these calipers reassembled them incorrectly at some point. Is that right?

Also, my 2013 did not have the rubber sleeve on the lower slide pin. The replacement calipers do. Where do I get a replacement rubber sleeve.

Short story, any information on how to reassemble correctly would be appreciated as well as if I have the correct calipers.

see attached pictures for the images of the issues.
