Ethics/Morals As I Trade in my Car

2016 Outback
108k miles

Hi folks. The transmission in my Outback is going. I cant afford to fix it.

I have to trade the car in, or sell it to someone.

I’m having difficulty morally doing this. I don’t want to be dishonest (not disclose the problem), and I will need a good relationship with the dealership I trade it in to/buy from. Please keep reading…

Got my eye on a used Outback with real low miles at a somewhat smaller, NON-SUBARU dealership with 3 stores in the area. The trans problem in my car is only barely noticeable. If I don’t disclose it, how would a place deal with such a car?

Any suggestions as to how to proceed? I don’t want to be a liar or leave them with such a problem, although the rest of the car is in pretty good shape. Thanks for ANY thoughts you might have.
