First and foremost…we are all on these forums (most of us) to contribute and to provide experiences and advice with the member community. This also relates to vendors that make aftermarket gear for our vehicles. I can’t say enough about Dongar as it relates to a great product and just as important great service.
I posted earlier in this thread (#17) that the Toyota 10 pin connector that folks are using (saw some vids on u-tube showing the same adapter I have for a Toyota) does provide power to an external camera while passing all signals except one (yellow wire). I sent an email to Dongar tech support and literally got a reply back in less than 12 hours with a very detailed response as well as an offer to get a pre-GA adapter.
Turns out the yellow wire controls the dimming of the mirror when going into reverse. It disables the dimming until you shift out of reverse (and of course if it’s dark out). During the day time you wouldn’t see any issues.
Here is the pin out for the 2022 OB XT Touring with rear dimming mirror and homelink (not sure what other years/trims this is applicable). This was provide by Kevin @Dongar answering my question I submitted via their website.
Kevin offered (and I took it) to send me a pre-production model that takes into account this new wire. He told me that the new adapter that addresses this (he mentioned this is a new wire for the latest Subaru models) will be available for sale come late June.
He also offered to send me a pre-production model from refurb gear that he would ship out to me.
I was going to wait for that until earlier this morning taking the new OB with my dog out for her morning walk I nearly got T-boned from an idiot that blew a stop sign. Figure I can deal w/o having my rear view mirror cancel dimming during night time when I’m in reverse.
This is how I set the camera up. I also installed the Autostop Eliminator at the same time since that requires taking down the overhead console.
I purchased a 90 degree USB cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YDG6B6R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to make things a little neater. Also used stereo foam deadener to ensure nothing rattles.
The plastic pieces covering the rearview mirror wires can easily be removed. I used that plastic tunnel to route my USB wire to the camera.
The wire/adapters are now wrapped in foam and I tucked them up into where the overhead console is. There is plenty of room there. I also put painters tape on the cameras because I wanted to clean the windshield area before I attached the camera to the windshield.

Finished. Nice and clean.
And yes… I know what the manual states about putting anything on the windshield because of EyeSight. The camera is not in the field of vision and I’ve had zero issues while driving.
So… to re-iterate you absolutely can use the Toyota 10 pin Dongar connector for the 2022 OB XT Touring with rear dimming/homelink mirror. The caveat is you will loose the dimming cancel at night when you go into reverse. But that is why you have a backup camera and more importantly a head that can swivel to look over your shoulder. The new adapter is to be available late June that has the yellow wire pass through. The Dongar adapter I’m using is here: Dash Cam Power Adapter (10-pin Type B, Lexus/Toyota/Subaru)
