Diesel engines and Turbo engines

Several people here have advocated the virtues of using an oil puller as a clean/easy method of changing the oil for those of us past the age of crawling under the car to access the drain plug.
I would like to use one for my new XT, but several posters have mentioned some difficulties in using one with a turbo engine. They don’t explain why, only that they couldn’t get all the oil out. Maybe because they couldn’t get to the bottom of the oil pan? Have they warmed up the engine/oil properly? Is there a bend in the dip stick they couldn’t get past?
And, if anyone has successfully used an extractor, what model do you use?
