Went on vacation for 10 days. Parked our 2021 Ascent outside at Ohare Airport. It was a terrible weather week with below freezing temps, high winds, and snow. Jumped in the car, the dash lit up like a christmas tree, but it wouldn’t turn over. Called Subaru Roadside Assistance. They told me someone would be out in 90 minutes. The security service Ohare ended up giving me a jump after about an hour of waiting. I drove the car 2 miles to pick up my family, parked for a minute, and came out to a flat tire. Called Subaru Roadside again and told them my new location. Started the process of changing the tire myself, but it was slow, the rear hatch was frozen shut (or errored out due to the dead battery) and it was -10 wind chill. I didn’t have cold weather gear as we were coming back from Hawaii. After another hour and a half of messing with it, I finally got the tire changed. Then was stuck driving 150 miles home on the donut. Driving 55 in Chicago where everyone drives 90 is sketchy and scary!
Took the car into Subaru service today and the service writer told me that the dead battery and flat tire would both cost me. Nothing covered by warranty. How is a dead battery on a 2021 car with 17000 miles on it not warranty? The tire I can understand, but the battery? No way!
Very displeased at this point.
