Does anyone have any documentation on CVT oil and or CVT failures to post. I’ve looked around and all I can find are uneducated scare tactics. I’m not new to Subaru or transmissions and usually proprietary oil just means there aren’t enough sales to justify paying for bottle certification for aftermarkets. I personally know vehicles that have had accidental CVT drains and they have been filled with available Subaru certified oil and no problems over 10k later.
Not wanting to start a ridiculous forum argument, just wanting to know what friction modifier is in this oil that makes it so special that the dealer won’t sell it to the public?
