CVT Fluid Controlled @ 98k

Thought I’d document my CVT fluid check on the 2017 OB 2.5i Limited @ 97,700 mi. It has the FB25 engine and the TR580 CVT transmission. The ambient temperature was 80d.F.

o I put the car on jack stands and checked that it was level front and back and sideways.
o Loose 8mm hex plug found and cracked.
Note that the fluid will run out when the car is cold and turned off.
o Start the car. CVT fluid in the 80s.
o Unplugged, no juice left.
o Withdrawn 3oz of liquid to send to Blackstone using this pump. I primed the pump by wiping oil off the o-rings and then dousing them with Subary CVT-II fluid to minimize sample contamination. I inserted the pump tube about 3″ at a slight downward angle to get fluid, pulled 3oz and replaced the plug finger tight.
o The liquid was amber in color.

o Pass the transmission through PRNDNRP several times.
o When the liquid reached 109d.F. as measured using a BT OBD dongle (Vgate Icar pro) and iphone app (ActiveOBD, Car Scanner elm obd2), I pulled the plug. No fluid ran out, so I added about 6oz of Subaru CVT-II fluid (soa427v1660) until I ran out of a small trickle of fluid.
o Replace the plug with a new gasket #803918060.
o Plug stud to 36.9 ft-lb.
