I’m a newbie, might be a Subaru owner in a couple of days and seek your advice. My budget is currently very tight and I want to buy a solid and reliable car for under $10k.
Here are the facts:
- model: 2018
- trim: 2.5I PREMIUM
- mileage: 212,000 in just 5 years, approx. 45k mi/y
- only one previous owner
- carfax report looks good, received all scheduled maintenance
- motor is not leaking
- car is optical in very good shape, it seems to be handled very well
Cons:
- the touch screen is not very responsive – I read that this might get solved with a firmware update 🤞
- the windshield has a crack
With the Cons fixed I can get the car for $10,500. Without, what I currently prefer, for $9,500.
I read that well maintained Outbacks can last 250,000-300,000 miles.
I think I’ll get a relatively new car (5 yrs old) that was used primarily on long distance trips. Otherwise I’m question myself how the owner was able to put 45k miles a year on the odometer I plan to drive 10-12k mi/y that could give me a ride for 4 to 8 years.
What do you think and what is your advice? Would you support my reasoning? Is this a good deal?
Thanks a lot, Erik
